Founding Engineer
Overview
A platform for AI agent development is hiring its first employee: a Founding Engineer. The role involves significant ownership of the product and technical direction, working directly with the founder. The platform spans Go backend services, React/TypeScript, Python and JavaScript SDKs, an open-source AI app store, container runtimes, GPU scheduling, billing, authentication, real-time streaming, team workspaces, and agent skills/plugins.
Location & Work Mode
Remote across US/EU time zones or based in San Francisco.
Compensation
$160,000–$210,000 base salary.
2–4% equity.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with the founder to shape product and technical direction.
Ship features end-to-end and make architectural decisions.
Operate production systems and debug issues across Go, React, and Python.
Improve GPU scheduling and container runtime performance.
Redesign SDKs and ship customer-requested features.
Collaborate with design partners to define new builds.
Establish engineering culture as the company grows.
Must Have
Substantial experience building and operating production systems in Go.
Comfortable working with TypeScript/React and Python.
Understanding of cgroups, containers, networking, and distributed systems.
Product-minded approach to APIs, interfaces, and user needs.
Ability to work autonomously and own problems end-to-end.
Good to Have
Experience with Rust and Linux/container internals.
Knowledge of GPU/CUDA infrastructure.
Background in developer tooling and SDKs.
Familiarity with real-time systems.
Early-stage startup experience.
